Top Scottish Chefs Lift the Lid on Mouth-Watering Taste Line-up

The cream of Scottish culinary talent came together today (13 April) to whet Scots’ appetites for what’s to come with a stellar line-up for the country’s favourite food festival, Taste of Edinburgh 2011, in partnership with AEG.

 

With tickets officially going on sale today, over 25,000 foodies are expected to flock to The Meadows to see a new and exciting line-up of 15 restaurants on the festival’s new mid summer date of 1-3 July.   

 

The festival also announced the launch restaurant line-up which represents the very best of Scottish culinary talent; Restaurant Martin Wishart, Chex Rouz, Cucina at Hotel Missoni, First Coast, Mark Greenaway at Hawke & Hunter, Ondine, Plumed Horse, Tigerlily, Vincaffé, Wedgwood plus Cook School by Martin Wishart.   

 

Foodie fans will have the chance to enjoy tasty cooking demonstrations at the Taste Theatre and sample the best Scottish and British food and drink from over 100 artisan producers.  Visitors can also brush up on their own culinary skills with hands-on AEG Perfekt Cooking Classes with Cook School by Martin Wishart, and sessions at the Waitrose Cookery School, creating stunning dishes with the freshest local and seasonal ingredients.

 

Taste Festivals Managing Director, Justin Clarke says: "Taste of Edinburgh is back for the fifth year and with the combination of our original launch venue, the new summer date and some of the finest chefs in the country signed up, this year it really is going to be the most eagerly anticipated festival yet.  We are really excited to have our first ten restaurants on board already and will be announcing a further five along with a number of other exciting developments in the coming months. 

 

“With fresh culinary talent being complemented by some of Scotland’s finest local producers and artisan suppliers, this year’s chefs promise to cook up a storm and give the crowd a festival to remember.”

 

Taste of Edinburgh was launched in 2007 and over the past five years, the festival has developed a recipe for success attracting a host of household names including Jean-Christophe Novelli, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Tom Kitchin, Rachel Allen, Tristan Welch, Giorgio Locatelli, Nick Nairn, Aldo Zilli, Lady Claire Macdonald and Alan Murchison.
