What is Taste of Edinburgh?

Taste of Edinburgh is part of the Taste Festivals, where the host city’s most acclaimed restaurants and chefs gather in a stunning venue to present their signature dishes to thousands of ‘foodie’ visitors. Taste of Edinburgh attracts around 25,000 visitors to the Scottish Capital every year.

In your visit to Taste of Edinburgh, you will have the unique opportunity to dine from 15 of the capital's top restaurants, try and buy from 100 food and drink producers, enjoy a fine wine tasting and watch some of the the country's greatest chefs demonstrate their skills live on stage.

Taste Festivals have set a new benchmark for food and drink events worldwide with 13 Taste Festivals now being hosted around the world.

How do I buy tickets?

Taste of Edinburgh offers a range of ticket types suitable to all visitor requirements. To buy tickets, click here, or call 0871 297 0742.



I want to upgrade my ticket, how do I do this?

Not a problem! Call our ticket hotline on 0871 297 0742 and they will happily upgrade your ticket.



How do I get there?

The Meadows is a 20 minute walk from Waverly Station, but there are many buses that pass The Meadows. To view a map, click here. Or to find your nearest bus route, click here.



What are the event opening times?

Taste of Edinburgh takes place in 6 sessions across 3 days - the sessions are:

 

Friday 6th July
12pm - 4pm
5.30pm - 9.30pm
Saturday 7th July
12pm - 4pm
5.30pm - 9.30pm
Sunday 8th July
11.30pm - 3.30pm
4.30pm - 8.30pm


What are Crowns?

Crowns are the official currency of Taste of Edinburgh. £1 = 2 Crowns.



Does everyone accept Crowns?

Crowns are used to buy food and drinks from all restaurants and bars. Some exhibitors also accept them - look out for the "Crowns accepted here" signs on their stands.



Can I use Pound Sterling (£) throughout the site?

You can only use £’s at exhibitor stands. Restaurants and bars only accept Crowns.



Will I be able to exchange any spare Crowns at the end of the event?

Crowns are non-refundable, so make sure you spend every last one!



Will the event be affected by unfortunate weather circumstances?

Unless advised by the local authority, the event will go ahead despite any weather circumstances. So sun, rain or shine, Taste will thrive no matter what! For the latest weather information, click here.



Where can I see when the chefs are performing in the Taste Theatre?

Once the chef timetables have been confirmed, they will be available to view online. For the latest information on chefs appearing at Taste, click here.



How many Crowns would you recommend buying per person?

We’d advise you begin with around 30 Crowns, this allows you to take advantage of the restaurants and exhibitors on offer. There are 3 Crown Banks on site, as well as Crown sellers roaming the site, so there is always the opportunity to purchase more.



How much are each of the dishes at the restaurants?

The average dish at Taste of Edinburgh is 6-10 Crowns (£3-5).

Do children under 8 require a ticket to attend?

No, but proof of identification may be required.



Are there any age limits?

No! Everyone and anyone is welcome.



Are there car-parking facilities on site?

No, there is no car parking facilities. For access routes to The Meadows, click here.



Can I bring my own food and/or drink?

No food will be permitted into the site premises. Only bottled water will be allowed.



Are pets allowed?

Only guide dogs will be permitted on site. No pets allowed.



Will there be water points on site?

There will be water points available throughout the site. They can be found on the floorplan here.



Are there storage facilities on site?

There will be a cloakroom upon entry. It is £1 per item.



Can I leave the festival site and come back in?

No. It is necessary to stay in until your Taste session has ended.



Is smoking permitted on site?

Please reframe from smoking near the restaurants and exhibitor stalls. There are designated smoking areas which can be found here.



My ticket hasn’t arrived yet – who do I contact?

If your ticket still hasn’t arrived 7 days prior to the event, please contact our ticket hotline on 0871 297 0742.



Will there be ATM facilities on site?

No. Although all Crown banks and roaming crowns take card.
